Whether you call it a living room, sitting room, or even a den, this spot in your home is usually the center point. It gets tons of use and with that comes a lot of foot (and paw) traffic. Given that these rooms are usually larger and open, a rug can add to the aesthetic of the space. A rule of thumb for living room rugs is to get a size that covers a large area. One of the most common mistakes people make is too use a too small rug and it ends up making the room look disproportionate.
Rugs in the living room also add some softness in a place that is often floored with hardwood, luxury vinyl, or even tile.
Kitchen & Dining Rooms
Many people think the kitchen and dining room are not candidates for area rugs since there is an abundant presence of food in these spaces. Placing a rug down in your kitchen can lighten the space among the hard-counter tops, furniture, and appliances. Rugs are also a great way to add some color, pattern, and design to your kitchen to make it more of a representation of your home’s overall style.
The dining room is a place where families and guests gather, therefore it should be warm and welcoming. Area rugs are a great way to make a space feel more inviting. A flat rug in this space can easily have chairs moved over it and is easy to quickly vacuum after meals!
Walkways
Runner rugs are the perfect way to add some depth to otherwise plain or open areas. Complement the art or photos you have hanging on the walls of a hallway in your home with a coordinating rug. This adds comfort to your home and is a great way to incorporate color or design in spaces that can often be left empty and plain.
